Toad’s Mouth

The group of hyperthermal springs splashing high on the cliff next to the waterfall is named the Toad’s Mouth after its shape liking an open-mouthed toad. They are boiling springs with a range of 1.5 m, a temperature of 95.5℃, a flow rate of 0.4 L/S and a pH value of 8.28. The intermittent eruption of them is caused by the mixing of water and gas. An angle of nearly 60° is produced between the earth’s surface and the fissure connected to it, so the water vapor erupts on the tilt and formed sinter like toad’s mouth over the years. The white materials near the spring mouth are siliceous sinter, which are precipitates of the hyperthermal springs.
