The northern side of the volcanic cone has the remains of a small crater, and the southern side of it has a lava outlet and lava ridge near the bottom. Dakong Mountain has experienced two major eruptions: The first was a quiet eruption happening about 360,000 years ago, and the second was an explosive eruption happening about 250,000 years ago, forming volcanic debris rocks showed as rhyolite, volcanic bombs, pumice stone and so on. During the eruption, olive basaltic lava flowed out over a large area in all directions to form a lava sheet, and the central crater was preserved as a hollow volcanic cone composed of basaltic scoria, volcanic bombs and lava masses.
